Academic Background

After receiving her B.S. in Nursing, Magna Cum Laude, from Adelphi University in 1982, she enjoyed over ten years of clinical and managerial nursing experience. She was honored with membership in Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society of Nursing and Delta Tau Alpha Honor Society. She received her J.D. from Hofstra University in 1996 and has focused her legal practice to the defense of Skilled Nursing Homes, Hospitals, Healthcare Practitioners, Administrative Actions, Medical Malpractice Defense and Veterinary Malpractice Defense.

Speaking

Karen has lectured nationally for healthcare facilities, corporations, insurance companies and educational institutions. She presented seminars to health care professionals, hospitals and skilled nursing facilities on Elder Abuse, nursing home malpractice, handling the disgruntled employee, effective use of medical records, obtaining the right records for litigation, defensive charting and frequently encountered issues in patient care leading to liability issues. Karen also presents MCLE training seminars on practical nursing care in acute and sub acute settings.
